The Charlotte Hornets retired Dell Curry's No. 30 jersey in a ceremony Thursday night, honoring the franchise's first draft pick and longtime community pillar. Curry, who spent 10 of his 16 NBA seasons with Charlotte, became emotional as the jersey was raised alongside Bobby Phills' at halftime of the game against Orlando.

Curry, now 61, was the Hornets' last original player when he left in 1998 and remains the franchise leader in games played with 701 appearances. The Virginia native won the 1994 NBA Sixth Man Award and ranks second in team history with 9,839 points and 929 made three-pointers. His family, including sons Stephen and Seth Curry, attended the ceremony.

North Carolina Governor Josh Stein presented Curry with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine during a private reception. The Hornets also donated to the Boys & Girls Club in his honor. Curry has been Charlotte's television color commentator since 2009, continuing his decades-long connection to the franchise that drafted him in 1988.
