Lewis Hamilton’s heart sank when his Ferrari car hit a mechanic during a pit stop at Spa-Francorchamps. The incident followed the green signal, with the crew member in front of the wheel adjusting the front wing. Hamilton immediately stopped, the mechanic was unhurt and helped to his feet.

Post‑race stewards fined Ferrari €30,000, with €10,000 suspended for a year. No sporting sanction was imposed on the driver, who retained his fourth‑place finish. The result moved him to second in the Drivers’ Championship, 45 points behind Kimi Antonelli.

Hamilton recalled the 2018 Bahrain GP, where a faulty Ferrari stop caused Kimi Raikkonen’s mechanic to break legs. He was relieved the mechanic was fine and thanked him. He noted the stop was already delayed by a five‑second penalty from an earlier collision with George Russell.

Accepting responsibility for the Saturday crash, Hamilton said car damage and a mis‑set suspension hurt his qualifying. He believes better pace could have changed the outcome, but the team is improving.
