Hamilton Keeps British GP Podium After Reprimand

Lewis Hamilton retained third place at the British Grand Prix after FIA stewards issued only a reprimand for a yellow-flag infringement at Silverstone. The seven-time champion was investigated for failing to slow through a yellow sector while passing Nico Hulkenberg's stranded Audi, but video evidence showed Hamilton entered Turn 9 before the yellow flag was displayed. The dashboard warning appeared only near the end of the zone, and Hamilton was distracted by a wheel-to-wheel battle with Max Verstappen. Stewards accepted his reaction time was "very limited" but noted he made no discernible speed reduction.

Hamilton told Sky Sports he expected to lose the podium: "I went through a yellow flag and I didn't see it." Instead, he keeps third behind winning team-mate Charles Leclerc and George Russell, who inherited second when championship leader Kimi Antonelli retired late. The race finished under the safety car after Verstappen crashed at Stowe, a sequence that cost Hamilton a position when he pitted for tyres while Russell stayed out.

The outcome preserves Ferrari's 1-3 finish and extends Leclerc's momentum, while Mercedes gains valuable constructor points. For Hamilton, the reprimand is his first of the season — three more would trigger a grid penalty. The stewards' leniency reflects the chaotic visibility conditions, but the precedent may frustrate drivers who have received harsher penalties for similar infractions this year.
