Hamilton Faces Yellow Flag Penalty After British GP

Lewis Hamilton was summoned by the British Grand Prix stewards after a suspected yellow‑flag breach at 4:03:34 BST, just after overtaking Max Verstappen on lap 38. The incident followed a stophinji by Nico Hulkenberg near the National Pit Straight.

Hamilton admitted he likely will lose his podium finish, citing a missed yellow flag that caused a jump start. He had already served a five‑second penalty for an early start, which lengthened his first pit stop to 8.8 seconds. The FIA stewards confirmed a minor movement before the start signal, citing Article B5.11.1 and imposing the standard penalty.

If an additional sanction is issued, Hamilton could tumble from third to 14th, as the race finished under safety‑car conditions. The result underscores the strict enforcement of yellow‑flag rules and could dampen Hamilton’s campaign momentum.

The stewards panel, led by Gerd Ennser, includes Tanja Geilhausen, Mathieu Remmerie, Pedro Lamy and Richard Norbury. Their decision signals a firm stance on compliance ahead of the season’s next rounds.
