India great Rohit Sharma brushed off retirement speculation after scoring 138 in the series-deciding ODI against England at Lord's. The 39-year-old's 34th ODI century came amid rumors he might retire after the Cardiff defeat, though BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia denied such talk.

Despite Rohit's ton, India lost by 27 runs to suffer a 2-1 series defeat following a 4-0 T20 whitewash. Speaking to bcci.tv, Rohit said his focus remains on batting and contributing to the team: "My job is inside, their job is outside. That's how I look at it."

Captain Shubman Gill confirmed there has been no discussion about Rohit's retirement within the squad. The opener has amassed nearly 12,000 runs across 288 ODIs, including three double centuries, and turns 40 in April.

The 2027 50-over World Cup could provide a fitting farewell, though selectors may decide his future. Rohit quit T20 internationals in 2024 and retired from Tests in 2025, managing only 11 and 26 in his previous two innings before the Lord's hundred.
