Similar apps including ICEBlock and Red Dot faced the same fate across Apple's App Store and Google Play. The lawsuit specifically cites social media posts by former Attorney General Pam Bondi and former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem that demanded and took credit for removing these monitoring tools.

FIRE, representing the plaintiffs, called the ruling "extremely encouraging" while noting it's not the final decision. The case centers on whether government officials can use "thinly veiled threats" to suppress speech about public law enforcement activities.
