Greenbriar Equity Group has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Spectrum Control, a Fairview, Pennsylvania-based developer and manufacturer of engineered radio frequency components and subsystems, from AEA Investors. Spectrum Control develops RF and microwave technologies for aerospace, defense, space and commercial applications. Its components enable signal protection, conditioning and processing across complex electronic systems, supporting analog-to-digital communications in defense and high-reliability industrial end markets.

President and chief executive Rich Sorelle and the existing management team will continue to lead Spectrum. Under Greenbriar’s ownership, the company will keep investing in its engineering capabilities, new product development, customer relationships and manufacturing operations. Greenbriar is a mid-market private equity firm with more than $15 billion of assets under management.

The transaction is expected to close by the first quarter of 2027. Evercore and William Blair served as financial advisers to Spectrum and AEA, and Fried Frank served as their legal counsel. Kirkland & Ellis was legal counsel to Greenbriar.
