Wildgate's Final Update Marks End of Development

Dreamhaven and Moonshot Games confirmed that Wildgate, their sci‑fi PvPvE shooter released on Steam in July 2025, will receive its final content drop in July 2026. The upcoming patch 1.5.4 adds new features before the title shifts into maintenance mode, meaning no further major development will occur. The decision follows a steep decline in active users that made continued development financially untenable.

Patch 1.5.4 revamps the mode‑selection screen, introduces player‑controlled custom‑game options, and celebrates the game’s one‑year anniversary while delivering bug and balance fixes. At launch, Wildgate peaked at 7,799 concurrent Steam players; by early 2026 daily peaks lingered between 25 and 150. The studio will continue minor updates—bug fixes, balance tweaks, and small events—without adding fresh content. The updates focus on refinement, not new content.

Dreamhaven says the title will stay purchasable across all platforms and will appear in sales whenever possible. Community management will be scaled back and the official Discord handed to players, signaling a shift toward a self‑sustaining fan base. Without a robust player base, server costs may force shutdown. With online services required for multiplayer, the game's long‑term availability now hinges on a dwindling player pool.
