At CES, the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) showcased key advancements in display technology, highlighting standards that promise to reshape high-performance computing. While no new consumer standards were announced, VESA demonstrated previously revealed innovations with tangible updates. Notably, the DP80LL standard for active cables was shown supporting 3.5-meter lengths, exceeding the initial 3-meter limit.

This development is crucial for users needing high-bandwidth connections over longer distances, as it enables robust DisplayPort 2.1 connectivity for future-proof setups. Additionally, VESA demonstrated 120 Gbps asymmetric DP tunnelling over USB4v2 using a Thunderbolt 5 card, driving dual 5K LG displays. This showcases the immense bandwidth potential for content creators and gamers requiring multi-monitor, high-resolution workflows.

VESA also highlighted a three-stream MST daisy-chaining demo with Gigabyte 4K monitors, proving single-cable multi-display efficiency. On the certification front, the new LG Gram Pro 16 laptop was featured, boasting DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification. This standard demands a peak luminance of 1000 nits and an ultra-low black level of 0.0005 nits, offering vastly superior contrast over standard DisplayHDR 1000.

Finally, the LG Ultragear GX7 monitor demonstrated ClearMR 21000, the highest tier for motion blur reduction, essential for competitive gaming clarity.
