SAPPHIRE EDGE+ Apex Robotics Platform Launched

SAPPHIRE Technology has launched the EDGE+ Apex SOM/Carrier Robotics Platform, a production-ready hardware solution designed to accelerate the development and deployment of physical AI in autonomous robotics. This platform is powered by AMD Ryzen AI Embedded X100 Series processors and features a COM-HPC module paired with a purpose-built robotics carrier board.

The EDGE+ Apex platform combines CPU, GPU, and NPU acceleration for real-time perception, complex scene understanding, and autonomous decision-making. It is designed for continuous industrial operation, offering deterministic real-time performance and long-term lifecycle availability. The platform supports an open software ecosystem, allowing developers to utilize familiar AI frameworks and AMD's ROCm and Ryzen AI software.

Paul Smith, Senior Director at SAPPHIRE Embedded Solutions, stated that the goal was to provide a complete, production-ready foundation for robotics builders. The platform includes a COM-HPC System-on-Module with up to 128 GB of LPDDR5x memory and a carrier board featuring an AMD Ultra Scale+ FPGA for extensive robotics I/O, such as GMSL camera interfaces, CAN-FD, and EtherCAT/TSN networking. The EDGE+ Apex platform will be available as an AMD Ryzen AI Embedded X100 Series processor SOM and a robotics carrier board, expanding SAPPHIRE's physical AI portfolio.
