PUBG: Battlegrounds rolls out a limited‑time mode that pairs players with an AI teammate powered by NVIDIA’s Ace engine. The new Ally Duo arcade feature launches on the Sanhok jungle map during update 42.1, letting gamers command a digital partner named Ella through spoken commands. The beta window opens June 17 and closes July 1.

Ella interprets voice cues, supplies tactical data, and can fetch vehicles or spot enemies, mirroring the demo NVIDIA showcased last year. To run the AI, players need an NVIDIA RTX GPU; the baseline spec calls for a 2080 Ti or 3060 8 GB plus 16 GB RAM, while a RTX 4070 with 24 GB RAM is advised. Hardware‑accelerated GPU scheduling must also be enabled.

The limited window lets players test AI companionship before the feature might become permanent. Developers position Ally Duo as a testbed for deeper integration of AI in shooters, hinting at future voice‑controlled teammates across titles. For the 16‑year‑old battle royale market, this move signals a shift toward more interactive, AI‑rich gameplay experiences.

Players will find Ella’s voice model trained on diverse data, allowing natural conversations. However, the requirement for high‑end GPUs may limit accessibility, raising questions about the balance between cutting‑edge AI and broad player inclusion as the industry pushes toward more sophisticated NPCs.
