Per-Module GDDR7 Temp Unlocks on RTX 50 'Blackwell'

More individual readings are being unlocked on NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 50 series "Blackwell" graphics cards as the modding community explores GDDR7 temperature monitoring per module. The diverse team includes Brazilian GPU repair specialist Paulo Gomes, MSI Afterburner developer Unwinder, Overclock.net member asder00, HWiNFO creator Martin "Mumak" Malík, and Linux code developer olealgoritme. Together they built a Hotspot.dll plugin for MSI Afterburner that now exposes individual GDDR7 temperature readings, expanding on the previous hidden "Blackwell" GPU die access.

The updated plugin unlocks the thermal sensors inside memory ICs, enabling users to view up to 16 separate readings on cards like the RTX 5090, which houses 16 2‑GB GDDR7 modules. Some GPUs use a clamshell memory layout, so only half the measurement points appear—eight modules on each side of the PCB. These per‑IC temperatures prove valuable for troubleshooting, especially when a thermal pad fails or is absent, risking module overheating.

With hotspot deltas, memory junction, and GDDR7 readings now available, NVIDIA's "Blackwell" is fully unlocked in terms of measurement, giving enthusiasts precise insight into GPU health.
