NVIDIA has unveiled DLSS 4.5 at CES 2026, a significant update to its AI upscaling technology built on the 'Blackwell' architecture. This release introduces a 2nd Generation Super Resolution Transformer, trained on a vastly larger dataset using five times the compute power of the original. This enhancement, powered by FP8 data format on RTX 40-series and 50-series GPUs, delivers substantially improved image quality.

A key feature is Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, capable of producing up to 6x frames, which enables path-traced games to run at 4K Ultra HD with 240 Hz refresh rates on flagship cards. While DLSS 4.5 supports older RTX 20-series and 30-series GPUs, the performance and quality gains are most pronounced on newer hardware with FP8 acceleration. This move democratizes high-fidelity, performance-intensive gaming visuals for a broader PC audience.
