Micron Technology has announced the 3610 NVMe SSD, marking a significant milestone as the industry's first PCIe Gen 5 G9 QLC SSD designed for client computing. This new drive leverages Micron's advanced G9 NAND technology to deliver impressive sequential read speeds of up to 11,000 MB/s and write speeds of 9,300 MB/s. A standout feature is its availability in a 4 TB capacity within a compact, single-sided M.2 2230 form factor, making it an ideal solution for ultra-thin laptops and AI-capable devices where space is limited.

According to Mark Montierth, SVP and GM of Micron's Mobile and Client Business Unit, the 3610 is engineered to support demanding tasks like on-device AI and immersive streaming. By combining the speed of Gen 5 with the cost-effectiveness of QLC technology, Micron is providing a solution that enhances responsiveness while maintaining power efficiency, a crucial balance for modern portable computing.
