Intel Forces 7,467 MT/s Memory on Panther Lake Arc GPUs

Intel has announced a new requirement for its upcoming Panther Lake SoCs: OEMs must pair the Arc B390 and Arc B370 integrated GPUs with LPDDR5X memory running at 7,467 MT/s or faster. The move follows reports that lower‑speed modules could cripple the iGPU’s bandwidth.

Intel’s software will flag configurations below the threshold with a generic “Intel Graphics” label in Windows 11 Task Manager, while compliant builds display the full “Arc B390” or “Arc B370” name. This visual cue signals to users that the system meets the performance spec.

Without the mandated speed, the iGPU would starve for bandwidth, hurting frame rates in games and productivity apps. Higher memory rates also boost overall system throughput, a critical advantage for single‑package Panther Lake laptops that rely entirely on LPDDR5X for CPU and GPU traffic.

Intel also hints at a handheld‑focused Panther Lake variant, possibly an Arc B380 with lower TDP but the same 12‑core Xe layout. OEMs will likely push the top 9,600 MT/s LPDDR5X to squeeze the most performance out of these power‑constrained devices.
