Intel Confirms No Core Ultra 9 290K Plus Launch

Intel has officially confirmed it will not release the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus processor, scrapping plans for a flagship model in its Arrow Lake Refresh lineup. The decision comes after Intel determined the SKU would overlap too much with the existing Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, which shares the same core configuration of 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores. Instead, Intel will focus on delivering value through its Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus models.

The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus delivers impressive specs including a maximum turbo boost of 5.5 GHz, with P-Cores reaching up to 5.4 GHz and E-Cores hitting 4.7 GHz. Intel Germany's Florian Maislinger confirmed the cancellation, stating the company's objective was to maximize performance for the most widely available desktop SKUs. The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is positioned to deliver outstanding gaming performance at a competitive price point.

This strategic shift allows Intel to streamline its product lineup while maintaining strong performance across its refreshed processor family. By focusing on the Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 5 models, Intel aims to provide exceptional value compared to competitors without fragmenting the market with overlapping SKUs that offer minimal performance gains.
