ICY DOCK’s MB409A5 Brings PCIe Gen 5 NVMe Flexibility

ICY DOCK’s new EXLink MB409A5 adapter lets server and workstation builders tap a single PCIe 5.0 x8 slot for up to two high‑speed NVMe drives via MCIO 8i connectivity. The card supports lane bifurcation, delivering 256 Gbps total bandwidth.

Designed for platforms that need longer traces or external cables, the MB409A5 embeds a PCIe Gen 5 redriver and a 100 MHz clock buffer. These features preserve 32 GT/s data rates across complex layouts, keeping signal integrity intact.

The adapter accepts any PCIe 2.0‑5.0 host, fitting x8 or x16 slots, and works with ICY DOCK’s ToughArmor racks and MCIO cables. System integrators can therefore add removable NVMe bays without custom backplanes.

By simplifying PCIe Gen 5 storage expansion, the MB409A5 lowers entry barriers for high‑density NVMe deployments in enterprise environments.
