GTA VI Forecasts $4.5B Launch Week

GTA VI remains a highly anticipated title, with its second trailer amassing over 475 million views in the first 24 hours across all platforms. Analytics firm Newzoo predicts the game could generate anywhere between $3.3 billion and $5.2 billion globally during its opening week. In the first week of pre‑order sales, GTA VI already earned $260 million.

Using its "Proven Sequel" model, Newzoo projects a launch revenue of about $4.5 billion from roughly 51 million unit sales. Even the more conservative "Sequel with Performance Uncertainty" curve estimates a hefty $3.25 billion from 37 million units, a figure that dwarfs titles like Resident Evil Requiem, which hit 6 million sales in just two weeks.

These projections are framed within a timed console exclusive; however, Sony’s PC port numbers show that a PC launch can trigger a significant secondary sales wave, potentially boosting overall revenue.

Overall, the forecast positions GTA VI as a blockbuster that could set new records for launch‑week earnings in the gaming industry.
