SpaceX called off a test flight of its Starship rocket and Super Heavy booster as the countdown reached zero Thursday at Starbase in South Texas. The 400-foot-tall vehicle was loaded with over 11.5 million pounds of liquid methane and liquid oxygen for a 5:45 pm local launch.

Computers triggered an automatic abort during the booster's engine startup sequence. Elon Musk posted on X that "Some of the engines didn't start, triggering an automatic launch abort." A live stream graphic showed 4 of the 33 Raptor engines failed to ignite.

Ground teams will replace two Raptor engines on the Super Heavy, with the next attempt likely early next week. This 13th full-scale Starship flight marks the second using the upgraded Raptor 3 engines on the Version 3 rocket.
