Fiona Sperry, former Studio Director at Criterion Games (2004-2014) and co-founder of Three Fields Entertainment, has launched a new studio called When Tides Turn to develop Wreckreation 2, a sequel to the open-world driving playground with heavy Burnout DNA.

The open-world arcade racer aims to capture the frenetic moment-to-moment energy unique to the genre. Sperry is taking a different development approach, building "out in the open" by sharing progress, listening to community feedback, and letting players shape the game. This philosophy was sparked by a Discord moderator noting people still play old Burnout games years later.

Wreckreation 2's announcement trailer showcases Burnout-coded moments including slow-mo crashes, dominance battles, and police chases. The Steam page reveals features like online and cross-platform multiplayer, suggesting PlayStation and Xbox releases. Game modes hinted include Race, Road Rage, Marked Man, Pursuits, Blackspots, Wreckonings, and Eliminators, though these may evolve during early development. No launch date has been announced.
