Following the split from Xbox as a result of the gaming giant's year-long reset, Double Fine will host the first Amnesia Fortnite event since 2019. This game jam event pitches ideas and lets the community vote on which will eventually get made into a game. Accompanying the event is a Kickstarter campaign that Double Fine says will help support their newly regained independence.

Backers will vote for four finalists to become a game prototype, one of which will become a real small game. The game jam will start on August 31 and run through most of August. 2 Player Productions will be recording the event and producing a documentary of the game jam. Previously, in late-June, Double Fine announced that it was laying off 25% of its staff following its separation from Xbox, citing financial sustainability as the reason for the reduction.

Double Fine's last game launch before the Xbox split was Kiln, the multi-player pottery game, but the studio was also previously responsible for Psychonauts, Keeper, and Brutal Legend. The newly indie studio is only one of a handful of game studios that split from Xbox after CEO Asha Sharma took over and restructured the company.
