Chuwi Offers CPU Mix-Up Refunds

Chinese manufacturer Chuwi is refunding customers after shipping CoreBook laptops with incorrect processors, admitting a "production error" led to advertising Ryzen 5 7430U chips while actually installing older Ryzen 5 5500U units. The company blamed the discrepancy on a manufacturing mistake affecting "limited number" of devices, following AMD's earlier statement placing responsibility on the laptop maker.

Affected users must return devices to [email protected] or through their purchase channel by May 31, 2026, with laptops required to be in original condition with all accessories included. The two-month deadline from the announcement date suggests urgency in resolving what could be a significant PR problem for the company.

The refund offer comes after Notebookcheck revealed the processor discrepancy, raising questions about quality control at the Chinese tech company. Chuwi's 22-year brand history now faces damage as customers evaluate their commitment to promised specifications, particularly when comparing the advertised performance of the newer 7430U chip versus the actual 5500U processor installed.
