AMD has launched the Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 VEK385 Evaluation Kit, providing engineers with a comprehensive platform to assess the XC2VE3858 device for embedded AI and vision applications. The kit features heterogeneous compute capabilities, high-performance I/O, and extensive memory bandwidth.

Designed for rapid prototyping, the VEK385 supports 4K/8K vision pipelines through HDMI RX/TX and USB3/DP interfaces. The PCIe x8 edge connector enables Gen 5 x4 and Gen 3/4 x8 support, while QSFP28 and SFP28 connectors facilitate 25-100 Gb/s high-speed Ethernet applications. Additional connectivity includes FMC+ for I/O expansion and CAN-FD with PL/PS Ethernet for robotics and industrial control.

The evaluation kit accelerates development by providing ready-to-run workloads and robust bring-up tools. Engineers can quickly assess system performance across embedded AI, vision, and control workloads, streamlining the path from prototype to production.
