AMD 'Gorgon Halo' Rumored for Ryzen AI MAX Refresh

VideoCardz reports AMD is developing a refresh of its Ryzen AI MAX 400 series, tentatively called "Gorgon Halo." This follows the success of the current "Strix Halo" mobile processors, which have gained traction in high-end laptops and mini-PCs. A speculated top-tier Ryzen AI Max+ 495 SKU is envisioned as the successor to the existing Ryzen AI Max+ 395.

The refresh comes as Intel prepares its "Panther Lake-H" flagship APU, creating renewed competition in the high-performance mobile space. AMD's "Gorgon Point" (Ryzen AI 400) line is reportedly launching this week, with a desktop AM5 version expected in 2026. Engineering samples for "Gorgon Halo" are already being distributed to partners.

Looking further ahead, the report mentions future "Medusa Halo" APUs leveraging Zen 6 and RDNA 5/UDNA architectures. This roadmap indicates AMD is preparing a multi-year refresh cycle to counter Intel's advancements and maintain its foothold in the premium mobile and desktop APU markets.
