AMD drivers add Advanced Shader Delivery to Xbox PC

Microsoft rolled out Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD) for the Xbox PC app, letting developers ship pre‑compiled shaders matched to a user’s GPU. By bypassing runtime compilation, games can shave most of the loading delay that occurs on first launch or after major graphics changes. AMD confirmed its latest Adrenalin 26.6.1 WHQL drivers support the feature now.

The driver update covers every RDNA‑based Radeon card, from the RX 5000 line through the RX 6000, RX 7000 and the newly released RX 9000 series. With ASD enabled, shader delivery can reduce load times by up to 95%, essentially eliminating the pause users experience while the GPU compiles code. The first title to use the pipeline is Forza Horizon 6.

Gamers with compatible Radeon hardware will see immediate performance gains without changing settings, while developers gain a reliable path to ship optimized shader bundles across the Xbox PC ecosystem. AMD’s participation signals broader industry adoption of Microsoft’s ASD framework, which could become a standard for reducing compile stalls on PC titles. The rollout begins with driver 26.6.1 and the latest Xbox PC app.
