Intel Arc GPUs Get Precompiled Shaders for Faster Gaming

Intel has expanded its precompiled shader delivery service to Arc B-series GPUs and Intel Core Ultra processors with built-in Arc graphics through the latest Arc 101.8626 WHQL driver. This technology processes game shaders in Intel's cloud infrastructure, downloading them to users' systems via the Intel Graphics Software App. The approach dramatically reduces game loading times and eliminates stuttering during first launches.

When installed, the Intel app identifies which games users play and automatically downloads precompiled shaders to a dedicated folder on their PC. The system updates these shaders automatically whenever developers release new versions, ensuring optimal performance. Currently supporting 13 games at launch, the service delivers an average loading speed improvement of more than 2x across the supported titles.

Performance gains vary significantly by game, with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered seeing a 1.3x improvement while God of War Ragnarök achieves up to 21x faster loading times. The service represents a standardized approach originally developed by Microsoft through its Agility SDK, potentially opening the door for other GPU manufacturers to adopt similar technology. For now, the feature remains exclusive to Intel's latest hardware ecosystem.
