Neural DSP has unveiled the Quad Cortex mini, a compact floor-based guitar modeler that packs the full processing power of its larger sibling into a smaller, more affordable package. The device won a Best in Show award at this year's NAMM music tech show, cementing Neural's position as a leader in the competitive amp modeling industry.

The Finnish company, founded in 2017, has distinguished itself through innovative use of machine learning and robotics to create incredibly lifelike amp and pedal models. Its technology can replicate hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gear in a single unit, offering guitarists unprecedented flexibility. The mini version reduces the price from nearly $2,000 to $1,400 while maintaining the same core capabilities.

Weighing just 3.3 lbs and measuring about the size of two bricks side by side, the Quad Cortex mini features a 7-inch touchscreen, four footswitches, and extensive connectivity options. It comes preloaded with over 90 amp models, 100 effects, and 1,000 cabinet impulse responses, plus access to Neural's cloud service for additional user-created captures. The device represents a significant evolution from traditional stomp boxes, functioning as both a performance tool and a sophisticated modeling platform that can even capture and recreate your own gear collection.
