Live Nation and Ticketmaster Found to Overcharge Fans in Jury Ruling

After a Trump‑era battle, a federal jury ruled that Live Nation and Ticketmaster operate an illegal monopoly that overcharged concertgoers. The decision followed the administration’s sudden withdrawal from the case, leaving 33 states and D.C. to continue the fight. Arizona’s Attorney General Kris Mayes said the state kept pushing for consumer relief in the final ruling for all ticket buyers today.

The settlement, reached while the trial was still active, required the companies to alter business practices and imposed civil penalties of up to $280 million on states that opted in. Only six states—Arkansas, Iowa, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and South Dakota—joined, receiving a combined $18.6 million payout. The remaining 33 states and D.C. will pursue the case independently to protect fans nationwide and curb abuse.

Arizona’s victory signals a broader push against ticket‑scaling practices that inflate prices. By keeping the lawsuit alive, the 33 states aim to enforce stricter resale caps and transparency in ticketing fees. The outcome underscores the growing pressure on dominant platforms to honor fair‑pricing commitments, ensuring that concertgoers pay what the artists and venues truly intend for every attendee today.
