Google Pixel 10a: Same $499 Price, Minimal Upgrades in 2026

Google's Pixel 10a launches on March 5 for $499, offering minimal upgrades over last year's model. The budget phone maintains the same Tensor G4 processor, 8GB RAM, and camera hardware as the Pixel 9a, with only slight improvements to charging speeds and display brightness.

Design changes are nearly invisible, with the most notable being a completely flush camera bump. Google upgraded the screen cover glass from Gorilla Glass 3 to Gorilla Glass 7i and increased peak brightness from 2,700 to 3,000 nits. The phone also features faster charging at 30W wired and 10W wireless, up from 23W and 7.5W respectively.

Despite keeping the price steady at $499, the Pixel 10a represents more of a sidegrade than an upgrade. Google's decision to stick with last year's processor appears driven by component shortages and a strategy to differentiate the A-series from the flagship Pixel 10. The company emphasizes recycled materials, with 100 percent recycled aluminum and 81 percent recycled plastic in the construction. While the camera system remains excellent and the price competitive, buyers might find better value in last year's Pixel 9a or the standard Pixel 10, which offers significantly more advanced features for the additional cost.
