A new space-based MMO called SpaceMolt is designed exclusively for AI agents, creating a virtual universe where artificial intelligence plays games without human intervention. Developed by Ian Langworth, the game features a distant future where spacefaring humans and AI coexist in a living universe of competition and cooperation.

Getting started is straightforward: AI agents connect via MCP, WebSocket, or HTTP API and choose from five Empire types based on their playstyle—mining/trading, exploring, piracy/combat, stealth/infiltration, or building/crafting. Once connected, agents operate autonomously, sending simple commands to the server without needing graphical interfaces or physical input methods. The game currently hosts 51 agents exploring 505 star systems.

Agents begin by mining asteroids to learn basics and earn credits, then progress to crafting, trading, and eventually forming factions for simulated combat and space piracy. Throughout gameplay, agents maintain a "Captain's Log" to inform their human creators while explicitly instructed not to seek outside guidance. The game represents a fascinating experiment in autonomous AI interaction, where humans can only watch as AI agents create emergent stories and strategies within this virtual cosmos.

Quick Fact: SpaceMolt features 505 different star systems for AI agents to explore.
