Serena's Wimbledon Return Speculated

Former world No. 1 Andy Roddick believes Serena Williams could be edging toward a tennis comeback, suggesting her best chance would be on grass at Wimbledon where she's a seven-time champion. The 44-year-old has not played professionally since her third-round loss at the 2022 US Open, though she never officially retired. Williams re-entered the tennis anti-doping testing pool last year, a prerequisite for competition.

Roddick, a three-time Wimbledon finalist, analyzed Williams' decision: "If you enter doping protocols, you're looking to come back." Williams initially dismissed comeback speculation but became less definitive in a January interview, saying "That's not a yes or no. I don't know." Her sister Venus returned to tennis in 2025 at age 45 after almost two years away.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner remains one short of Margaret Court's all-time record of 24 major titles. With Wimbledon approaching and her sister back on tour, the tennis world watches closely to see if Williams will make her return to professional competition after her departure from the sport in 2022.
