MI London's hopes of a fourth straight Hundred title ended despite a narrow two-run victory over bottom-placed Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston. Needing to win by at least 59 runs to qualify for the play-offs, they posted 157-6 and reduced Phoenix to 98, but a crucial partnership between Jake Weatherley and Sean Dickson took the hosts past that target, dashing MI London's chances.

Richard Gleeson took three wickets in the powerplay to become the competition's leading wicket-taker with 14 victims, but Tom Curran's wide ended their slim hopes. Dickson made 23, Weatherley 42, and Jordan Thompson and Rehan Ahmed pushed Phoenix close before Trent Boult held his nerve with late yorkers to secure a two-run victory.

Earlier, Will Jacks and James Vince started well for MI London, but Rehan Ahmed's leg-spin (2-7 from 15 balls) restricted them, with Nicholas Pooran (36) falling to Thompson. Despite late cameos from Sikandar Raza and Ollie Sykes, the total proved insufficient. With MI London eliminated, Sun Risers Leeds face Manchester Super Giants at The Oval on Friday, with the winner progressing to the Lord's final against Trent Rockets.

In the other match, London Spirit beat Welsh Fire by six runs in Cardiff, defending 131-8. Chris Woakes and Marco Jansen bowled tightly, but Fire collapsed late, losing by six runs.
