Red Bull tops F1 engines, Mercedes, Ferrari get ADUO upgrades

Red Bull has been named Formula 1’s top engine supplier, so the FIA’s ADUO system hands upgrades to the rest of the pack. Mercedes, trailing by just over two percent, receives one engine upgrade this year, while Ferrari, Audi and Honda—each more than four percent behind—earn two each. The ruling keeps Red Bull on the front foot, for the season so far.

Mercedes chief Lewis Hamilton told Sky Sports that teams learned of the ADUO decision during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. He said, “Red Bull have the most powerful engine, Mercedes second, and then we Ferrari are behind.” Hamilton added that the eight‑to‑ten‑month development window is a serious effort to close the gap, not a quick fix, for all drivers and teams today.

Under ADUO, manufacturers 2‑4 percent below Red Bull receive allowances up to $3 million, while those 4‑6 percent behind get $4.65 million. The cost‑cap relief lets teams invest in engine development, but the FIA stresses it is not a performance boost. Red Bull, as the benchmark, will not get an upgrade, solidifying its power‑unit lead for the rest of the season and future regulation changes to.
