Charley Hull finished second at the US Women’s Open, falling short of a historic comeback after a strong third‑round 65 at Riviera Country Club. The Englishwoman began the tournament seven strokes behind the halfway leader and outside the top 40 after rounds of 73 and 72, but surged back into contention on Saturday.

On Sunday, Hull opened with a front‑nine 32 and two consecutive birdies to take a solo lead, only to lose it after a bogey on the 13th. She finished the day with an eagle, five birdies and three bogeys, setting a clubhouse target of seven under but ending tied‑second alongside Gaby Lopez.

Hull admitted the result was “pretty annoying,” noting it would be her fifth runner‑up finish in majors. She praised Nelly Korda for a back‑to‑back major win and said she played well on the back nine despite windy conditions and missed putts.

With 12 major top‑10s and five runner‑ups, Hull remains a fixture in the season’s final three majors, including the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and the Evian Championship. Her performance underscores the competitive depth of women’s golf and sets the stage for a fierce showdown in the next events.
