Red Bull Faces ADUO Review After Canadian GP

Red Bull Racing’s power unit sits under scrutiny as the Canadian Grand Prix ends the FIA’s first ADUO assessment period. With the Middle Eastern races cancelled, the governing body tightened the schedule, setting the stage for a decisive review of engine performance gaps.

The ADUO rule grants a single upgrade and a $3.0million boost to teams lagging 2‑4% behind the top internal‑combustion engine. If the deficit exceeds 4%, upgrades rise to two and the budget jump reaches $4.65m. Mercedes currently leads the pecking order, while Red Bull’s Ford unit sits a noticeable distance behind.

Laurent Mekies framed Red Bull as part of a cluster behind Mercedes, including Ferrari and Audi, but stopped short of naming exact gaps, citing the FIA’s data‑only approach. Honda, meanwhile, appears most in need of concessions, though the Japanese team declined to comment.

The FIA will issue its decision within two weeks of the Canadian race, ensuring clarity before the Monaco opening for the European leg. The outcome will shape upgrade budgets and competitive balance for the remainder of the season.
