Jockey Philip Byrnes has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) regarding the Redwood Queen incident at Wexford in May. The investigation centered on whether Byrnes deliberately jumped off his mount at the final hurdle. The mare was a long shot, but appeared to be in contention before the fall, sparking scrutiny.

The IHRB concluded that the fall was due to poor horsemanship and not a deliberate act. The evidence, including video replays and witness testimonies, did not support the claim. The investigation involved eight witnesses and considered various angles of the race. Former jockey Leighton Aspell provided evidence, while Davy Russell spoke in defense of Byrnes.

Byrnes explained he lost his balance due to a miscommunication with the horse. The stewards also dismissed a charge against Byrnes' father and trainer, Charles, related to a comment made to the Irish Field. This decision clears the jockey from any suspension and allows him to continue his career without further penalty, removing any doubt.
