Jamie Carragher has called for Manchester City to be stripped of their titles after the club was found guilty of serious breaches of the Premier League's financial rules between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons, during which they won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, three League Cups and one Community Shield. Sanctions will be addressed in a further hearing, and City have confirmed they will appeal.

If City are stripped of their Premier League titles, the trophies could be awarded to the runners-up. Manchester United would gain two titles, taking their total to 15, and Liverpool would receive one. Alternatively, the titles could remain vacant, as happened when Juventus were stripped of the 2004/05 Serie A title.

Another option is to expunge City's league record from those seasons, removing their results. This would affect teams' points totals and finishing positions. Blackpool is the only club across the nine seasons that would have avoided relegation if City's results were removed, at Wolves' expense.

In four of the nine seasons, Everton missed out on European football because City finished above them. If City's results are removed, Everton would have qualified for Europe in those seasons.
