Kripticjim edged Taurus Bay in a controversial photo finish for the Grade 2 AIS Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham Trials Day. The race, run in fading light, began nearly 30 minutes late after a hole was discovered near the second-last fence, forcing course adjustments and a delay that impacted the final outcome.

The Ben Pauling-trained Taurus Bay, carrying the colours of former football manager Harry Redknapp, was beaten by a head in a finish decided by TV footage. The official photo finish camera was deemed unusable due to darkness, a consequence of the earlier delay. Favourite Act Of Innocence was withdrawn pre-race, bringing Redknapp's horse into second favouritism.

Despite the chaotic build-up, both horses jumped cleanly. Pauling accepted the result, stating the video evidence was conclusive. The race, vital for preparations, provided Taurus Bay with a first battle. Redknapp acknowledged the strangeness of the day, looking ahead to the Cheltenham Festival.
