Mondo Duplantis added another centimetre to his pole vault world record, clearing 6.31 metres at his home event in Uppsala, Sweden. The Olympic and world champion opened with 5.65m before progressing through 5.90m and 6.08m, saving his best jump for last. This marks his 15th world record and continues his dominant run in 2025, where he's won all 16 competitions.

Duplantis, competing at the Mondo Classic, told the crowd he jumps "for myself, for my family, but also for you, for Sweden, and for everyone who supports me." Norway's Sondre Guttormsen placed second with 6.00m, while Americans Zachery Bradford and Sam Kendricks, along with Australia's Kurtis Marschall, all cleared 5.90m for third through fifth places. The previous world record of 6.16m was held by France's Renaud Lavillenie since 2014.

The American-born Swedish athlete has steadily progressed his world record since February 2020, when he first cleared 6.17m in Torun, Poland. His remarkable consistency shows in the progression: from 6.17m to 6.31m over six years, with multiple improvements each year. At just 24 years old, Duplantis continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in pole vaulting.
