Celtic is finding it difficult to compete in the transfer market, even against English Championship clubs, according to revealed meeting notes between board members and supporters. The club has only signed one new player this summer, Colombian striker Camilo Duran, highlighting ongoing issues that caused friction with former manager Brendan Rodgers.

During a meeting in Cork, chief executive Michael Nicholson cited the challenges of dealing with agents and competition from richer leagues as reasons for the club's slow pace in acquisitions. Manager Martin O'Neill reportedly expressed a "major need of signings" due to squad weaknesses. The club is focusing on developing younger players who are attracted by European football opportunities, rather than experienced ones, due to financial disparities.

Despite these challenges, Celtic has re-signed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, though Kelechi Iheanacho's future remains uncertain. The club's long-term strategy aims to be the best in Scotland, financially sound, and competitive in Europe. Meanwhile, Chris Sutton suggests Celtic may need to spend over £50m to overhaul their squad and maintain their title defense and Champions League aspirations, with potential departures like Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda looming.
