Mayweather Exhibition vs Zambidis Before Pacquiao Rematch

Floyd Mayweather will return to the ring for an exhibition bout against Mike Zambidis in Athens this June before his highly anticipated rematch with Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas this September. The 49-year-old boxing legend, who retired after defeating Conor McGregor in 2017, will face the 45-year-old Greek kickboxer in what serves as a warm-up for his fourth professional comeback.

Mayweather's exhibition against Zambidis comes as he prepares for his September 19 bout at the Sphere in Las Vegas, marking 11 years since their first encounter. The original fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao became the richest in boxing history, generating a £53.1 million gate and 4.6 million pay-per-view buys despite underwhelming in-ring action. This will be Mayweather's fourth retirement reversal, having previously ended his career in 2007, 2015, and 2017.

While Zambidis retired from kickboxing over a decade ago, having fought his last professional bout in 2013, he did compete in a one-off boxing match in 2019. Mayweather's return continues his pattern of lucrative exhibition bouts, having previously faced Don Moore and Deji Olatunji in recent years. The upcoming Pacquiao rematch promises to draw massive global attention despite their advancing ages.
