Mayweather-Pacquiao Rematch Uncertainty Deepens as Boxing Legend Calls Fight an Exhibition

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has cast significant doubt on the highly anticipated rematch with Manny Pacquiao, stating it will be an exhibition rather than a professional boxing match. The former pound-for-pound king, 49, made these comments during a meet and greet at Caesar's Palace, contradicting the February Netflix announcement and a previous statement from his camp about a sanctioned return to boxing. Mayweather, who retired in 2017, indicated the fight's location at The Sphere in Las Vegas is also uncertain. 'As of right now, we don't know exactly where the fight is going to be at,' Mayweather told Vegas Sports Today. 'We don't know the location of the fight.

The Sphere is one of the places that they talked about.' Pacquiao's team previously insisted he would only face Mayweather in a professional bout, a stance Mayweather's latest remarks directly challenge. The uncertainty extends beyond the Pacquiao fight; Mayweather also announced another exhibition with Mike Tyson and a June event in Athens, Greece, both lacking firm dates, venues, or broadcast details. This leaves the future of boxing's most famous rivalry in limbo and raises questions about Mayweather's actual return plans after a decade-long retirement.
