Mayo claimed a first All‑Ireland Senior Football title in 75 years as they beat defending champions Kerry in a thrilling final at Croke Park.

The Mayo side ended an 11‑final losing streak, winning 1-20 to 1-17 in emotional scenes on Sunday.

Manager Andy Moran – who lost six finals as a player – guided the club to silverware in his first season in charge.

'Curse lifted' legend: after the 1951 homecoming disrupted a funeral, the priest warned that Mayo would not win another title while any team member was alive. The last living player, Dr Mick Loftus, died in 2023, and three years later the curse appears lifted.
