Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that Bella Sykes and Izzy Northrop will leave the club to pursue playing opportunities in Australia. Northrop, a prop, has already moved to join BMD Premiership side Norths Devils after completing her teaching studies. Sykes will follow later this year upon finishing her degree at Leeds Beckett University, targeting the NSW Women's Premiership.

Both players joined the Rhinos from Huddersfield Giants in 2023 and quickly became key figures. Northrop departs with fond memories of two Women's Challenge Cup finals at Wembley. Sykes, an England international since 2024, sees the move as a crucial development step. Their exits represent a significant loss of experience for the Super League side.

The challenge of rugby league in Australia offers a different, high-intensity environment. For Sykes, maintaining England selection hopes from the southern hemisphere is a clear goal. Head coach Lois Forsell acknowledged their growth but must now reshape her squad for the 2026 Super League season, which begins in April.
