Leeds United and Rangers co-owner Jed York was arrested Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, and pleaded no contest Monday to misdemeanour charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. Court records show prosecutors amended an initial charge of engaging in prostitution to disorderly conduct. York was charged with possessing criminal tools for using his phone to respond to an undercover online prostitution advertisement.

He was released after posting a $5,000 bond and sentenced to one day in jail, credited with time served, plus a $1,150 fine. His cell phone was returned and $160 seized was directed to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. York also completed an online course.

Columbiana County Prosecutor Vito Abruzzino said such cases typically end in plea agreements based on specific facts and criminal history. 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of York's San Francisco 49ers, owns Leeds United and is part of the US consortium that acquired a majority stake in Rangers last summer. Both clubs declined comment. The NFL stated it was aware of the arrest and would review it under the personal conduct policy, which allows for fines or suspensions.
