Keely Hodgkinson has set her sights on the women's 800m world record of 1:53.28, a mark set by Jarmila Kratochvilova in 1983 that remains the longest-standing in athletics. The 24-year-old British athlete, who already boasts Olympic gold, a world title, and European golds, believes she can break the record despite its controversial history. Hodgkinson, who won her first world indoor title recently, stated her aim is 'global domination,' citing her unbroken training period and confidence gained from her current form.

She acknowledges the challenge, noting Kratochvilova's time has been questioned due to doping allegations, though the Czech runner denies any wrongdoing. Hodgkinson's time of 1:54.61 from the 2024 Olympics places her sixth on the all-time list. 'I have worked so hard this winter... I have managed to do everything,' she said, emphasizing her readiness.

Her training partner Georgia Hunter Bell and Molly Caudery also secured golds for Great Britain in the same event, overcoming significant injury setbacks to reach the podium.
