St Helens prop George Delaney will miss the remainder of the 2026 Super League season after suffering a shoulder injury during a match against the Wigan Warriors. The 22-year-old underwent surgery this week and confirmed the news on his Instagram, expressing his disappointment.

Delaney, who has played 20 times for Saints this season and scored two tries, was a key player stepping in for injured teammates. He is now focused on recovery and returning for the next year. He was one of three players to leave the field during the loss to Wigan, with others sustaining quad issues and failing HIA tests.

St Helens currently sit seventh in the Super League table, level on points with Hull KR, and are aiming to reach the play-offs. The club has pledged its full support to Delaney during his recovery. Head coach Paul Rowley recently stepped down, with his assistant Eamon O'Carroll taking over as interim coach.
