Paul Rowley has stepped down as St Helens head coach with immediate effect, leaving the Saints in sixth place in the Super League, two points clear of Hull KR. Assistant coach Eamon O'Carroll will take interim charge ahead of the Rivals Round clash against Wigan Warriors on Friday, live on Sky Sports at 8pm.

Chairman Eamonn Mc Manus praised Rowley’s commitment, stating the decision was an "extremely difficult one" but the club must now focus on preserving its historic position as the league’s most successful club and restoring silverware ambitions.

Rowley, who took the reins after a troubled season at Salford Red Devils, has seen the Saints suffer heavy defeats, including a 46-0 loss to Toulouse and a 32-0 semi‑final exit to Wigan. He remains a club legend, but the 2026 season faces new challenges.
