Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott has been found guilty of historical child sex abuse. The Scottish player, who won the World Championship in 2006, was convicted following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. The offences occurred between 1998 and 2001, involving a girl who was under the age of 16 at the time.

Dott, now 47, denied the charges but was found guilty by a majority verdict. He has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will be sentenced at a later date. The conviction marks a dramatic fall from grace for the former world number two, who reached the World Championship final three times during his career.
