Manchester City have moved swiftly to support forward Antoine Semenyo after the Ghana international revealed a fresh wave of online racism this week. The 26‑year‑old shared an Instagram story reading “It’s started again” together with a screenshot of a vile comment aimed at him. Club officials said they are providing every possible resource to help him cope with the abuse.

The harassment follows a similar episode in the opening match of the Premier League season, when Semenyo, then playing for Bournemouth, was racially abused by a Liverpool supporter, prompting referee Anthony Taylor to stop play. Police identified 47‑year‑old Mark Mogan as the perpetrator; he was arrested and charged with a racially aggravated public‑order offence, with a trial slated for April 22.

The Premier League issued a statement calling the abuse “unacceptable” and confirming that it has offered full backing to both the player and Manchester City. The FA echoed the condemnation, stressing that racism has no place in football or society and promising to work with clubs, law‑enforcement and social‑media platforms to eradicate it.

Both governing bodies warned that anyone found guilty could face custodial sentences, football banning orders and a permanent criminal record. City’s public backing reinforces its zero‑tolerance policy and sends a clear message that the club will not tolerate hate directed at its players as the legal process unfolds.
